The scarier question is why do 25-35% of Americans tend to agree with a lot of what the American Taliban is saying???
If it's intelligent discussion you are looking for on the subject, I'll start.
I'm gonna guess that a lot of Christian parents agree with a some of the sentiment behind remarks regarding societal control because they are tired of every type of aberrant behavior known to mankuind being publicly shoved into their family's eyes on a near daily basis in every American city.
On another overarching subject of comments found ont he American Taliban page -- that of Islam verses Christianity, I'm gonna postulate that the 50% of Americans who support the "War on Terror" or the War in Iraq do so because they guardedly DO believe that a portion of Islam's creeds are somehow utilized to inspire rage and hatred against non-believers. I had been of the opinion that our support for the Muslims in the former Yugoslavia would have brought the USA some kind of reprieve from the virulent Clerics, but it seems not to have. The grudging support of our rebullding efforts in Iraq by Al Sistani -- and his consistent calls for non-violent reaction to the country's occupation -- is also heartening, but unfortunately maybe not enough. People who would fly airplanes into buldings-- and those who support them -- seem to dominate the news that most Americans do see.
I am now rambling and will quit before finding my way onto JV's ridicule radar . . .
